Almost every artist was trying acrylic markers from a few brands. Mostly, Arrtx. Was it a fad, or are they here to replace Posca? I have to say that I still love them. They are so easy to use in a sketchbook when you want gouache-like opacity with a matte finish. I have a few videos on my channel featuring acrylic markers, and one is at the bottom of the post. I still love my white Posca? Can anything separate us? :) But for all the other colors in the world, I think these are brilliant and ... View the Post
Oil Pastel Floral Painting on Toned Paper
This bright and cheerful palette is bold during a time of season where botanical life has not yet bloomed. Sometimes, we must paint our blooms when we are impatient. I have my favorite Strathmore toned tan paper for this oil pastel painting. I used a Sennelier bronze for the final details. I LOVE their metallics! One of my favorite oil pastel styles is to have a creamy, smeary background with more textured foreground (in this case, the flowers). Tape off the edges for a nice clean finish! ... View the Post
Oil Pastel & Colored Pencils Gazebo Painting & Video
I love flower gardens, and when they have a lovely gazebo, so much the better! I started this with my Prismacolor colored pencils and decided to finish with oil pastels. I have a video at the bottom of the post! Working on Strathmore toned tan paper is always a joy. It's nice when you have the right surface! It keeps the painting free of frustration. There is a bonus apple to the left. :) I think I was just warming up. Wouldn't it be lovely to sit there and read a book? Look at ... View the Post
Slow Cooker Lamb Shanks & VIDEO!
This simple lamb shank recipe with veggies could be your next favorite dish! Lamb has so much flavor, and slow cooking with comforting veg is great for any time of the year. I used my Instant Pot Electric Dutch Oven. It is perfect for searing and slow cooking right in the same pot. Less dishes for me. :) I got my lamb shanks HERE! You can also use the bones to make delicious broth. The ingredients are humble and affordable. Ingredients and directions: We were hungry! I forgot ... View the Post
Purple Oil Pastel Landscape & Painting
I love challenging myself to work in a limited palette. Obviously, purple is our main color here, but accenting with browns and ochres sets it off nicely! :) I used mostly my Artecho oil pastel set. The color selection is amazing! I painted on Canson Graduate toned mixed media paper, which is very affordable at Blick. There is a video at the bottom of the post, and I hope you will try this one out! Serene landscapes are fun to paint, and really you can pick any color palette to try. I like ... View the Post
Oil Pastel Fairy Painting & VIDEO
This was an impromptu painting after the idea of fairy wings popped into my head. The result looks a bit more juvenile than I was imagining, but it was still fun. Using Sennelier's iridescence set adds to the overall effect. I love that set! Otherwise, I used Artecho oil pastels after sketching with a charcoal pencil (VIDEO BELOW). Oil pastels work well on Canson Graduate mixed media paper. It was a bit challenging to get delicate see-through wings, as oil pastels do not have a fine tip. ... View the Post
