Who doesn't love pigment in a stick? I know that I do! I have used Lyra Aquarelle for the longest time, and then added Caran D'ache to the mix. There are also a great variety of other brands and quality. These Scribble Sticks made by Ranger ink for Dina Wakley. They come in tins by sets of twelve. They are lovely colors! The can be used directly to paper, dipped in water, or used by applying a paintbrush as if it were a palette. They are great for travel, too! I have a black paint ... View the Post
A Crane Painting in My Art Talens Journal
I love birds! There are so many shapes, styles, and colors, which makes them fun to paint. This crane-type bird was painted in my Royal Art Talens art journal, then I created a seamless pattern that can be used for paper, fabric, and wallpaper! I used oil pastels, some watercolor, and pen. I love coral colors, and I thought this combination looked light and fresh, working well for home decor. I have this design available in wallpaper and fabric at Spoonflower! NEW! ... View the Post
Vintage Flowers with Stamp
This painting was fun! for the lavender flowers, I used a wet-on-wet technique. After they dried, I then added the blue and gold. I love the feathery effect that the wet-on-wet technique gives! Of course, I also had to do a bit of splattering. :) I used a stamp set from Creative Expressions Sam Poole for the Paris script and numbers. I added a painted border. I've created a seamless pattern (seen below). This was a fun art journal painting in my Strathmore Visual journal. I hope you try this ... View the Post
Oil Pastel Floral Painting
I'm back with one of my favorite art supplies-oil pastels! These water soluble oil pastels are even easier to use. They layer beautifully, and when slightly diluted in water, spread easily. They are so creamy! Strathmore toned tan paper works very well with oil pastels, and I love how the tan color sets off the bright florals! Do you love to work with oil pastels? I have many videos on my YouTube channel to help you out! I also used a little Lyra crayons and Jane Davenport wax crayons. They ... View the Post
CSY Handmade Metallic Watercolors & VIDEO
I love a little shimmer! Usually, I use metallic watercolors as an accent on top of regular watercolors and other media. In these paintings, I used what was in the CSY Handmade Watercolor palette. The colors are pretty amazing, especially when used on black watercolor paper. Check out the video below! They claim that they are handmade with organic honey and essential oils. I wouldn't depend on there being a great deal of lightfastness, but they are perfect for digital art, journals, and ... View the Post
Gouache Painting on a Card & VIDEO
Sometimes, it is easier for me to paint on a card than stamp an image correctly. :) I feel like I am a little "stamping challenged" at times. I like to keep a box of A2 card blanks around, so I thought I would tape off the front a paint a night scene. It didn't come out quite how I was envisioning, but the method was fun and worked well. The cards are a good cardstock weight and held up well to the HIMI gouache. I splattered some gold paint for good measure! :) ... View the Post
