Don't be afraid to load your brush with two or three paint colors. It immediately gives a varigated and shodowed look! Here, I have used acylic paint on my trusty Starthmore toned tan paper. This is a related method to Donna Dewberry's onestroke method. PRODUCTS I LOVE ... View the Post
Oil Pastel Woodland Toadstool
We had a fairly wet September, so our lawn has lots of mushrooms popping up here and there. It's amazing that mushrooms can come in so many colors! I've used black drawing paper in my art journal with a combination of oil and soft pastels. These quick paintings are fun exercises, and I use them in my digital art. I have lots of things in works: fabric at Spoonflower, new books at Barnes & Noble and Amazon, as well as my Etsy and patreon shop. My YouTube channel has over 1,000 videos in ... View the Post
Oil Pastel Floral Painting & Video

The oil-based pencils work especially well with oil pastels. ... View the Post

Have you tried it? They make the perfect art journal size, and would look lovely as a framed piece once torn out. ... View the Post

I have to paint my flowers and plants. :) Oil pastels are a great medium to carry off the colors and textures of nature. I also created a paper design that includes this potted plant (see below). SHORT VIDEO HERE! ... View the Post
Mirror, Mirror! Oil Pastel Painting
Using my Arteza black drawing paper, I painted this mirror in oil pastels. I was thinking that instead of painting a reflection, I would go in a Wonderland direction of a world through the looking glass. I mostly used Mungyo gallery oil pastels and some Paul Rubens. I love their reliable creaminess, still having the ability to layer. ... View the Post
