Moths and butterflies are my favorite insects. I love their colors and shapes. My drawing is fictitious, of course, but fun. I used a waterproof pen, watercolors and a beautiful gold shimmer paint for extra whimsy. The small watercolor art journal has great paper. SHORT VIDEO HERE ... View the Post
Painted Foaming Soap Dispensers & VIDEO
Recently, I have switched to making my own foaming hand soap using Dr. Bronner's soap and some dispensers. It is so much cheaper and easy! The only thing I miss is the pretty bottles that some brands com in that you can change with the seasons. I tried painting with my acrylics, and it worked perfectly! If you get the unscented soap, you can add essential oils to change the scents as well! VIDEO BELOW! I have a Labor Day sale going in my Etsy shop! ... View the Post
Blue & Orange Watercolor Flowers
Sometimes, a quick sketch is all that can be mustered. When I taught myself to play the piano, my philosophy was that five minutes a day is better than zero minutes a day. Whether or not our drawing is supberb (often it's not), there is always something to be gained in the exercising of creativity. Art journaling is a great way to create without the pressure! I'm pretty sure it is made by Daler-Rowney. I got it a bit ago, and there aren't indicators on the book itself. ... View the Post
Sketchy Flower in Watercolor & Video
I sketched a flower in waterproof ink, then added watercolors and Posca pens for a bolder finish. I love sketchy flowers! Drawing freehand in your journal is a fun way to practice without feeling like it matters if you fail. I've had a lot of duds, but you have to keep going and you will get to the ones you love. So Many Flowers!
Here are a bunch of flowers and greenery I painted in acrylic as I was experimenting on Strathmore's Toned Tan paper. The colors really pop on the tan, and I love the little flecks of fibers that keep the background from feeling flat. Gouache would be another great option for this paper, as you don't need a lot of water. Then, put them all together in a cluster and make a pattern! You can always use small, individual paintings. ... View the Post
