I've been painting storybook characters for children's book ideas. There is something so fun about personified animals! I also love history, so this chat noir must wear his finest. :) I used colored pencils to draw him out, the layered oil pastels. I used the gold in Sennelier's iridescent set for his clothing details. VIDEO BELOW! ... View the Post
Oil Pastel Orange Fruit Branch Painting
This black paper from Arteza is great for oil pastels! I love the instant dramatic touch black brings to a painting. This paper hold up well to oil pastels, soft pastels, and even gouache! The world of art papers can be overwhelming, but there are many great choices that are affordable. As long as you don't use too much water, this paper is great for mixed media. I love creating surface patterns designs from my art! I sell it as digital paper, fabric, and wallpaper! Thanks for ... View the Post
Oil Pastel Lollipop and VIDEO!

I can't eat sprinkles in real life, because I have expensive dental work that I don't want to repeat. :) I must, therefore, resort to painting the sprinkles in my life. :) Please check out the video below! Get the fabric here! ... View the Post
Oil Pastel Tuscany Home and Greenery & VIDEO

This Tuscany-ish house was started in colored pencils, then I added oil pastels. They work so well together, resulting in bold color with texture. You can see some of the progression in the photos below. I painted some plants that I could place in the scenery. There is a video below! ... View the Post
Oil Pastel Fish Painting & VIDEO

He learns to share his beautiful, shiny scales. The illustrations are great! Fish are a great thing to paint, because their shape is so simple. You can focus on colors and patterns. I have also created a surface pattern design below! :) I used my trusty toned tan paper from Strathmore! I have a video below! I started by ... View the Post
Creative Abstract Painting!
I was inspired by this amazing book, Creative Abstract Watercolor by Kate Rebecca Leach. It really is a fun and inspiring abstract method! I chose a few coordinating colors and used my watercolor art journal. I wet the paper with plain water in larges stripes, then dropped in color. Let some of the colors bleed into eachother to create connections. I dropped in a second layer to make the colors more bold. When that dries, I added details with a white gel pen and black Micron. I ... View the Post
