It’s completed. It’s being edited. And edited some more. Though it’s a short story, there is a lot of research and plot hole-eliminating that has to occur! Whew! Nevertheless, it’s fun! The second installment in my short story series A Short Tale for a Stormy Night Series takes place on Mackinac Island!
It’s one of my favorite places in the United States! No cars! Lots of fudge! The inner wooded areas are so lush and peaceful-both calming and mysterious; I had to make it the setting for a quick, satisfying story. Here is the cover!
I’m excited about it for many reasons. First, it’s in Michigan and the setting is inspiring. There are times I have gone to the island, sat on the hotel porch swing and have written away with the water before me. It is so peaceful and the sound of horse hooves is music to my ears. I grew up with Morgan horses.
Second, it takes place in the 1930s, which is different for me. I’m usually an 1890-1912 kind of gal. I have been reading some Poirot stories and I think the 20s and 30s were an interesting time. In my story, World War II is not far away, and the main character, Joseph tries to find peace on the island away from his troubles.
So, what happened in the woods? You’ll have to read and find out!
