Have you tried oil pastels? If you love color and texture in a stick, then pastels might be for you! I love impressionism, and oil pastels lend themselves well to that style of art. Many artists historically loved using oil pastels in addition to a “regular” oil painting. Pierre Auguste Renoir was one such artist. Here is Renoir’s painting Two Sisters (On the Terrace) in oils. I love his use of color!

I love using Strathmore’s toned tan paper. I painted these flowers and greenery, layering the creamy sticks of oil pastel.

Of course, a pattern must be made. The bold colors of oil pastels translate well into digital art.
