The following few pictures show some of the steps in painting this landscape using colored pencils and oil pastels. I taped off the sides so that I would have a clean finish at the end. I blocked in color with the colored pencils. This gives an opportunity to block in colors, as well as saves having too many oil pastel layers that can sometimes become messy.
It always looks like second grade art class in the beginning. š

I smoothed out the pastels in the sky, road, and grass. I just do this with my finger, but you can use blending stumps.
Here is the final painting. I added some birds and used my colored pencils to draw lines and “scratch in” some details.
