Here is another painting of my whimsical animals. I love owls, and purple owls are even more fun! I have a VIDEO BELOW for you to watch, as well as some of the preliminary photos showing the underpainting. I love using Strathmore paper, and the toned tan is a favorite!
For the underpainting, I’ve used Derwent Inktense pencils and Prismacolor pencils. It helps me to block in color and to start filling in the tooth of the paper. I love many brands of oil pastels, but Mungyo Gallery pastels are a great price, not overly creamy, and the color choices are wonderful.
