Lest you think that I have forsaken my beloved oil pastels and toned papers, I present you with this simple, but cheerful flower painting! :) This painting features some of my favorite corals, greens, and a touch of teal. I'm using Paul Rubens and Mungyo oil pastels. The toned gray paper is from Strathmore and holds the oil pastels beautifully! ... View the Post
Art Journal Gouache Landscapes
Okay, art doesn't always end up looking like the vision in the artist's head. :) Sometimes, things go awry, but the value of the practice remains. There is never loss when you are taking time to create. It is great for our brains, but also, it teaches perseverance. We have to keep trying, even if we have some "bad" results. I used mostly HIMI gouache and Arteza gouache. The mountain painting is also combined with watercolor. Art journals are a great place to get to know your art supplies! ... View the Post

I love adding sparkle! ... View the Post
Tombow Dual Brush Markers in My Art Journal
Several years ago, I invested in a large set of Tombow Dual Brush markers. I didn't really know what I was doing, as I had only worked with colored pencils previously. It was a great choice, because they are amazing, versatile markers! They are great for brush lettering, watercolor washes, card making, travel journaling, planners, and so much more! The range of colors is fantastic, and the color can be very bold! HERE is a color chart from Tombow. With the fine tip end, you can add details to ... View the Post
Black & Blue Berry Pie
We love pie in this household, and I love baking easy things. :) This pie was a version of the Blackberry Pie found is the wonderful cookbook, Me, Myself, and Pie by Sherry Gore. The pie crust was made from the recipe in this cookbook (another favorite). Pie crust takes mere minutes to make and is SO MUCH BETTER than stuff from the store. This is especially important when the pie is simple, because the crust is a large part of the flavor profile. Sometimes, I make multiple crusts to stash in the ... View the Post
Queen of Narnia & VIDEO
Our family recently heard a wonderful dramatization of the complete books in The Chronicles of Narnia. It took us several weeks to go through it during our family devotions, but there is so much to learn through these stories. A theme quote that pops up several times is, "Once a king or queen of Narnia, always a queen or king of Narnia." This statement has wonderful spiritual meaning. As I was using my Jane Davenport face stencils, I kept thinking of that quote. Here is my "Queen of Narnia"! I ... View the Post
