Until around 2016, I thought that I couldn't paint or draw. As a kid, I could only draw clothes, houses, and horse heads to the right. I am still learning and growing (and this horse head is certainly quite basic), but becoming a paid artist was a child's dream. I love my art journal, where I can try ideas without the pressure. Also, on this particular day, I think I was missing my horse who passed away a few years ago. I used Tombow brush markers, colored pencils, and my white Posca paint ... View the Post
Abstract Blob Doodle Fun!
I don't paint abstracts very often, but I do enjoy watercolor blobs and doodles now and again. There is something about the simple enjoyment of color and shape! I used my white Posca paint pen for the opaque, white doodles. I used my Gansai Tambi Art Nouveau watercolors, which has a gorgeous palette! Of course, I had to make a seamless pattern! ... Gansai Tambi Granulating Watercolor & VIDEO
These are beautiful! I am a big fan of Gansai Tambi products, and this small set of granulating watercolors did not disappoint! First, I swatched them out on watercolor paper in my art journal, then I painted some flowers! I have a VIDEO at the bottom of this post, so be sure to check it out! :) ... View the Post
Edwardian Fashion Sketch with Distress Watercolor Pencils & VIDEO
I gave Distress Watercolor Pencils another go and painted this 1910s fashion sketch. I enjoyed them much better this time. My inspiration was an old Butterick costume pattern that I had about me, and I love the result! The watercolor pencils are fun to use. They are a great addition if you already collect the Distress Ink product line by Ranger Ink. I think they are pricey for getting watercolor pencils without lightfast ratings, but no doubt, you are paying for the Tim Holtz branding. I would ... View the Post
Dina Wakley Scribble Sticks 2
Here is a swatch and quick painting with set 2 of Dina Wakley Scribble Sticks from Ranger Ink. These veer from the basic set of mostly primaries, into some colors like Cheddar and Elephant! Of course, they coordinate with the acrylic paints. These are fun and easy to use. If you get all of the tins, I suggest rearranging them into like colors. I still tend to grab my Lyra and Caran D'Ache, though. In the end, they are a fun collector art supply, some of the colors are unique, and they are ... View the Post
