Since I was a wee ten-year-old lass, I have been drawing fashion sketches! I would have loved to have these templates! These are great for proportions and poses. If you sketch lightly in pencil, you can erase easily while adding the clothes. This set comes with several poses, as well as a "dress form" type template. They work perfectly in a 9 x 12 inch sketchbook. ... View the Post
Gouache Cabin in the Woods
In this painting, I'm using my HIMI gouache paint pots for this art journal landscape. I love how the colors and overall feel turned out, but let's just agree that the cabin needs some renovations. :) Regardless, it was fun to paint, and these exercises are always profitable! Spritz your gouache at the end of your painting session, then put the lid on tightly to keep your gouache from drying out. ... View the Post
Mixed Media Bird Painting
Cute bird alert! :) This little guy was painted from a fun mix of watercolor, Tombow brush pens, a touch of colored pencil, and my white Posca acrylic paint pen. I love the colors, as they are cheerful. I also painted a watercolor branch with leaves that day, so I thought I would add it here. I need to make a surface pattern design with my bird yet, but there are two versions of the leaves available at Spoonflower in fabric and wallpaper! This design is available in fabric and ... Lest you think that I have forsaken my beloved oil pastels and toned papers, I present you with this simple, but cheerful flower painting! :) This painting features some of my favorite corals, greens, and a touch of teal. I'm using Paul Rubens and Mungyo oil pastels. The toned gray paper is from Strathmore and holds the oil pastels beautifully! ... View the Post
Art Journal Gouache Landscapes
Okay, art doesn't always end up looking like the vision in the artist's head. :) Sometimes, things go awry, but the value of the practice remains. There is never loss when you are taking time to create. It is great for our brains, but also, it teaches perseverance. We have to keep trying, even if we have some "bad" results. I used mostly HIMI gouache and Arteza gouache. The mountain painting is also combined with watercolor. Art journals are a great place to get to know your art supplies! ... View the Post
Mixed Media Peacock Painting & VIDEO
I love peacocks. They are interesting birds with beautiful colors to paint. Check out the video at the bottom of the post! In this painting, I've used watercolor, colored pencils, Tombow Dual Brush markers, and my trusty Posca paint pen. :) I also added sparkly shimmer over the top using a Tonic Studios shimmer pen. I love adding sparkle! ... View the Post
