Colored pencils were my first art supply love, and I still use them on a regular basis. I often use them with watercolor, as their opaque textural strength helps the look of watercolor. Here, I have done the opposite. I started with colored pencil, then added a bit of metallic watercolor. I love the effect! You can dip into your cardstock stash with simple flowers to make unique, handmade cards (VIDEO BELOW). I have also created a seamless pattern in various colorways. You can see examples ... Oil Pastel Painting “Path in the Woods”
I love my oil pastels! This quick painting was done in my Royal Talens art journal. I love using Paul Rubens and Mungyo oil pastels. They have a great balance of creaminess, while still having the ability to layer. This was just an art exercise, but it was still fun! I did't film it, but the pictures will show you the major layers. ... View the Post
Mixed Media Nesting Doll Painting & VIDEO
Since I was young, I have had a love for nesting dolls. I love how they neatly stack inside one another. Then, you take them out one by one, until you get to the tiniest one left! Of course, they are usually painted so beautifully as well. They are interactive art. I've used my Artsy metallic watercolors on black watercolor paper, cut to a card size. With gouache and Posca pens, I painted the doll. I love the shimmer! VIDEO BELOW! ... View the Post
Shimmery Watercolor Lady in My Art Journal
We will say this lady is Elizabethan-ish. :) I love historical dress on my quirky people drawings (and sometimes animals)! Many brands offer gold watercolor, and it is a lot of fun to use. This was a very quick painting in my art journals-no doubt, on a day that I was sick or very busy. The art journal is my Strathmore Visual journal. It has great paper! ... View the Post
Inktense Florals with Berries
It seems that my site is working again; let's hope it continues! This painting was done with (mostly) Inktense Pencils from Derwent. I love that once activated, the color doesn't move as you layer new media on top. Then, you can add the dry colored pencils on top for texture. Inktense pencils are great for travel! These sticks of ink can be used as dry media until you are able to activate them, so sketching on-the-go is easy! :) ... View the Post
Temporary Issues
Sadly, my website started experiencing issues yesterday. I spent the whole day trying to resolve the issues with my site host. So far, it it is still moving slowly. I'm sorry, and I am working hard to resolve the issue. Thank you for your patience! If you need recipes, my site will still load. It will be slow, but eventually will open for you. Thanks and pray! :) ... View the Post
