This gourd was fun to paint in oil pastels! My inspiration was from a magazine. Gourds can have interesting striations, but I added some whimsical colors as well. There is a video below of the process! I used (mostly) Paul Rubens Haiya oil pastels, as I love their creamy texture and colors. Here is an example of a seamless surface pattern design that I created with the gourd and my other paintings. So fun! ... View the Post
Oil Pastel Feather Trio
Feathers are fun! They have beautiful patterns and colors. The intricate detail of texture and softness are an amazing design by the Creator! I painted three different feathers in oil pastels (there is a YouTube short below) and created a seamless pattern that you can find at Spoonflower in both wallpaper and fabric. :) I'm often inspired by our own quirky chickens. This is the seamless surface design pattern that I created. I love the colors! HERE ... View the Post

I also love history, so this chat noir must wear his finest. :) I used colored pencils to draw him out, the layered oil pastels. Oil Pastel Orange Fruit Branch Painting
This black paper from Arteza is great for oil pastels! I love the instant dramatic touch black brings to a painting. This paper hold up well to oil pastels, soft pastels, and even gouache! The world of art papers can be overwhelming, but there are many great choices that are affordable. As long as you don't use too much water, this paper is great for mixed media. I love creating surface patterns designs from my art! I sell it as digital paper, fabric, and wallpaper! Thanks for ... View the Post
Oil Pastel Lollipop and VIDEO!

I can't eat sprinkles in real life, because I have expensive dental work that I don't want to repeat. :) I must, therefore, resort to painting the sprinkles in my life. :) Please check out the video below! Oil Pastel Tuscany Home and Greenery & VIDEO
Children's book stories are flying around in my head hoping to make a landing. :) I have been painting scenery pieces to illustrate some of those story ideas. This Tuscany-ish house was started in colored pencils, then I added oil pastels. They work so well together, resulting in bold color with texture. You can see some of the progression in the photos below. I painted some plants that I could place in the scenery. There is a video below! ... View the Post
