Here is a painted mixed media plant in mostly colored pencils and water soluble oil pastels. There is a VIDEO below, so make sure to get to the end of the post. :) I created on Strathmore Toned Tan paper, cutting it to an A2 card size. Oil Pastel Purple Flower Painting on Toned Tan Paper
Ah, oil pastels! Their creamy and textural goodness is hard to resist. :) I love the layered colors and oil paint look without the messy brush clean-up. Tombow Markers Painting of a Lady & VIDEO TUTORIAL

Mixed Media Walrus Painting & VIDEO

There is also a touch of colored pencil and a bit of a white Posca paint pen as well. I started painting by using a wet-on-wet technique, dropping in various neutral browns, reds, and grays. Once that dried, I decided to layer oil pastels and used colored pencils for the finer details. Check out the video on YouTube below, as well as a walrus pattern available in fabric ... View the Post
Oil Pastel Painting on Watercolor Block
Watercolor paper can be a great surface for oil pastels, especially when there is an underpainting done in watercolor. I used this watercolor block for this colorful floral arrangement. I've used Paul Rubens and Mungyo oil pastels here (not the water soluble type). The creamy pastels layer beautifully! I have over a thousand videos on my channel to get you going. Here is a seamless pattern created from this painting, as well as a recent floral painting done in watercolor and water ... View the Post
