Mixed Media Hummingbird
I painted this hummingbird in watercolor, then added pastels on top for texture and opacity. Bird are always a favorite to paint. There is such a variety in colors and shapes! This little bird will make its way into a pattern eventually! Mixed media is my go-to, as I love to incorporate the strenths of each medium. Bottled inks are an amazing medium to use in your artwork. They move like watercolors, but have a staining element that makes them perfect for layering (you may end up with inky fingers, though).
