This Spoonflower challenge was, well, a challenge for me. The theme was “warm minimalism”, which can go in a boring direction very quickly. I was a bit stumped, so I just started painting blobs on paper to see what would come of it. 🙂 Does your brain freeze when you have to follow a specific guideline in art? My brain can, sadly. Any other day, I’m full of ideas. I don’t know if the confines of the challenge shut off my creativity valve? Anyway, in the end I like what I made. I think, looking at some of the mockups on Spoonflower, this design would make great home decor pillows and curtains.

Here are some of my attempts. They aren’t the greatest by any means, but the pattern above was created by the two smaller blobs in the right photo below. I dropped Winsor & Newton metallic gold using a wet-on-wet technique.
